Ladies & Gentlemen... Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself...
My name is David and I am from the island of Trinidad & Tobago. I started playing the steel-pans (steel drums) at the early age of 10 years. I played with BWIA Invaders, at that time they were known as Shell Invaders and Ellie Mannette was the band captain.
After a few years with Shell Invaders, I went to live in Caracas, Venezuela. There I continued playing the steel-pans with bands such as Rudy's Caracas Boys, Caracas Sounds of Steel, Tropical Harmony and Ambassador Steel Orchestra.
In 1977, I returned to Trinidad and played with Tesoro Starlift and in 1978 we won the Panorama (Trinidad's International Pan Competition) with the tune "Natasha {Du Du Yemi}" arranged by the late Herschell Puckerin. The pans were tune by my good friends Winston Big Jim McClean and Roland Inniss.
In 1984, I moved to the United States and played with a few bands in Florida, before starting my own band which is still going strong.
So Ladies & Gentleman...
